Hey, friend hey!!!

So I'm a little late to the party, but I'm participating in the Spring '24 One Room Challenge this year, and I'm tackling the Theater Room for the challenge!!!!

I'm hopping in at Week 3, but this is a 8 week challenge that I couldn't be more excited about because you know that's about my pace.

Along with myself, there are some other amazing bloggers, content creators and designers that are participating and I would love nothing more than you heading over to week 3 of the One Room Challenge Website and taking a look and showing support to the other participants as well!

You can check them out by CLICKING HERE...

Now, as for me, timing couldn't be better because I ran into some delays when I initially started this room, and with the One Room Challenge being 8 weeks, it's the perfect pace to pick up where we left off, even though we're in week 3 and finish this out with a bang!

So let's hop in.

Spring 24 Guest Participant One Room Challenge Theater Room Makeover

So Let's Play Catch Up Just a Bit and Talk Plans for the Space

I'm going to try to catch you up as much as possible without making this blog post long and drawn out.

The Theater Room for us doubles as a place for Tim to go and hide and when he wants to watch his beloved football, and the movie room for us as a family on the weekends.

The reason I chose this space is because when we initially built the home, we installed a 7.1 speaker system in one direction, and while living in the home we realized we needed to move the speakers and flip the orientation of the room so we could make better use of the space and have a more enjoyable experience while were using it.

The video below goes into great detail about the why.

Originally I was only going to change the placement of the speakers and move the TV, and in true Kae fashion, once the speakers and TV were moved and I had the ceilings and walls open, I decided, why not add some lighting which is what we've been able to accomplish so far.

Lighting was NOT apart of the original plan, lol.

I don't have a lot of before images just because I didn't think I'd be hopping into the challenge this late, but I'll add a couple of images below so you can see the aftermath of the move.

Now that the speakers have been moved, lights are installed and holes are repaired, I can pick back up on my part of the job which is installing wall trim and creating a pretty cool TV wall.

TV Wall Draw Up

Here's the plans for the space and the rest of the challenge

Install the wall trim & choose the paint color
Install the TV Wall with slats, storage and maybe a fireplace (the jury is still out on that one)
Build built-in storage for mini fridge with floating shelves
Finalize my selections on the furniture for the space and get it ordered
Paint the entire room including the speaker covers
Install the furniture with finishing touches and enjoy

So now that we're all caught up, it's time to roll my sleeves up and pick up where the contractors left off.

Next week I'll be sharing progress on the wall trim AND (Fingers crossed) the media storage for the TV Wall.

I'll also be working through finalizing the final color for the room so once I'm done with the wall trim and TV wall I can jump right into paint.

Thanks for joining me on this journey friend, I'm so excited to share it with you.

That's it for this week, I'll chat with you soon!
