Hey, friend hey!!!
We're back for Week 2 of the One Room Challenge and this week we're starting off by doing a little demolition!
If you've never heard of the One Room Challenge, it's an 8 week challenge where a bunch of us design enthusiasts get together and take on a project in our home.

Let's talk taking out drywall
When I decided to install the dog shower I was very grateful that we at least paid for rough in plumbing when we had our home built.
Now did we put it in the right place? No, but it's there and despite it not being in the ideal location I can make some things work.

When I decided to take on this project I already knew I was going to have to move some things around.
I've got drywall that needed to come out so we can install waterproof backer board that we'll be able to tile over, and of course in DIY fashion, when you start working on the project you discover a slew of things that will also have to be tackled and that's exactly where we are fresh into week 2.
This week as I was pulling out the drywall my brain started spinning and realized that I needed more function in the space than I originally planned.
So I decided to stack the washer and dryer, but in stacking the washer in dryer I realized that in order for me to achieve the clean lines I'm looking for that the connections would need to move which equates to more holes in the wall, lol.

But it's all for the better because with this new design I feel like I'm getting everything that I want without having to sacrifice and that feels good.
So now that the walls are all opened up, I'll start framing for the shower.
When I spoke to my electrician he informed me that I can do everything I want to do except put up drywall so that's exactly what I'm going to do to keep this train pushing.
Plans for Next Week
So now that the hard part is done, I've got a checklist that I want to try to tackle for next week and I'm going to need your help keeping me motivated, lol.
In the next week I'd like to try to accomplish the following:
I feel like if I can get these easy parts done, I can then transition back to the more complicated parts like waterproofing the shower, building the cabinets, tiling the shower and backsplash, etc.
My goal is to alternate intensity of work week over week that way I don't get burnt out.
So what do you think so far?
I'm proud of me this week and I can't wait to pull out my table saw and get to work.
That's week 2 my friends, I'll see you next week!!!!
